Womans Wound - Fear of Being Seen (Visibility)
Jan 09, 2025Description:
This wound involves a fear of putting oneself out there, often due to fear of judgment or failure. It can lead to hiding talents, procrastinating on sharing work, and avoiding public engagement.
- Avoids promoting oneself, even when it would benefit their business.
- Feels uncomfortable in the spotlight or when receiving praise.
- Avoids speaking up or sharing ideas in group settings.
- Fears criticism, leading to a reluctance to share work or talents.
- Feels anxious about showing vulnerability or authenticity publicly.
Mode of Survival:
- Fight: You may resist visibility and public attention, becoming defensive when asked to speak up or take on a public role. You might resist any opportunity that puts you in the spotlight.
- Flight: You avoid any form of visibility, whether that’s refusing to speak publicly, avoiding social media, or withdrawing from opportunities that involve being seen.
- Freeze: You freeze up when put on the spot, unable to take action or speak out even when the opportunity arises.
- Fawn: You might seek validation and approval from others before allowing yourself to be visible, overly catering to what others want to see or hear from you.
Origins:
- Childhood: Fear of standing out or being judged for mistakes.
- Ancestral: Ancestral history of needing to “stay small” to avoid persecution or conflict.
- Society: Societal pressures to appear flawless or fear of judgment.
Clearing Methods:
- Mental: Start with low-risk visibility exercises, like sharing a personal win with a friend, then build to larger audiences.
- Physical: Practice power poses or expressive body movements to feel comfortable with presence and visibility.
- Spiritual: Light a candle for courage and visualize yourself radiating confidence. Practice affirmations like “My voice deserves to be heard” daily.
Journaling Exercise:
Write a letter to your “Future Self” who has overcome the fear of being seen. Describe how this person shows up in the world, the work they’re doing, and how it feels to be fully visible. Then, thank yourself for having the courage to step into this vision.
Reflection Questions:
- What am I most afraid people will think if I’m fully visible?
- What parts of myself am I hiding, and why?
- How would my life change if I allowed myself to be seen authentically?
Whenever you feel stuck or notice recurring struggles, revisit the questionnaire to identify which wound might be holding you back. For lasting results, commit to practicing the clearing techniques consistently for 30 days; this will help you create a strong foundation and build a habit that supports ongoing growth and transformation
